DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
THE KIND OF HELP WE NEED
We are looking for a Director of Marketing who is excited about shaping our brand, driving growth, and establishing our presence in the competitive venture capital landscape while also providing our clients with best-in-class marketing support. This role is perfect for a strategic thinker with a strong background in marketing and a passion for venture capital.
The role will be full-time W2, and your time will be split accordingly:
60% — Driving Strut’s internal marketing initiatives.
40% — Managing a handful of Strut marketing clients to deliver best-in-class strategic marketing support.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategic Marketing Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy on an annual basis to establish and grow our firm’s presence in the venture capital ecosystem.
Identify and capitalize on market opportunities to position our firm as a leading consulting partner for venture capital firms.
Brand Development and Management
Create and manage our firm’s brand identity, ensuring it resonates with target audiences including investors and industry stakeholders.
Maintain brand consistency across all marketing channels and materials.
Campaign Planning and Execution
Design and execute innovative marketing campaigns to attract potential venture capital clients, build relationships with investors, and increase brand visibility.
Manage multi-channel marketing efforts including digital marketing, content creation, social media, email campaigns, newsletters, and event marketing.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including startup founders, investors, industry influencers, and media.
Represent the firm at relevant industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
Market Research and Insights
Conduct market research to understand trends, competitor strategies, and the needs of our target audience.
Utilize data-driven insights to refine marketing strategies and measure the impact of campaigns.
Content Creation and Managment
Oversee the creation of compelling content including blog posts, white papers, case studies, and social media posts that position our firm as a thought leader.
Ensure content is aligned with our marketing goals and resonates with our audience.
Team Building and Managment
Eventually build and lead a small, agile marketing team for our clients, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance management.
Foster a collaborative and innovative environment within the marketing service line.
Innovation and Trends
Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in marketing, venture capital, and startup ecosystems.
Implement creative marketing solutions to drive growth and enhance our competitive edge.
Building and Managing Partnerships
Find opportunities to nuture and enhance our existing alliances, and seek to build new partnerships.
Curate a quarterly newsletter for our business alliance partnerships.
Strut Client Care
Deliver best-in-class marketing strategy and support to our clients in the areas of:
VC Marketing Fundamentals
Content calendar creation
Blog writing, iteration, and distribution
Linkedin content creation
Persona Development and Content Strategy
Light PR Support
Media kit creation
Speaking opportunities, podcasts, and target conference lists
Email Marketing Implementation
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
The most important qualifications and attributes for this role are:
You have previous venture capital and/or marketing agency experience.
You have previous marketing, branding, and/or PR experience.
You are an excellent writer.
You are a strategic thought partner and come to the table with creative, innovative ideas.
You have a robust toolkit of proven marketing strategies and can successfully execute them.
Beyond that, we are looking for someone who:
Has high integrity.
Is inquisitive, educated, and knowledgeable.
Is a team player who builds strong rapport with others.
Has a proven track record of successful employment and is revered by past employers.

Is a unicorn or a phoenix (either educationally or in real life), or both.
OTHER THINGS TO KNOW
You need to be self-motivated and a self-starter. You will not be micromanaged in any capacity. It will be expected that you see your tasks through to completion, speak up and ask questions when you have them, communicate progress and status updates accordingly, and when you’ve reached the end of your to-do list, ask: “What can I tackle next?”
We are a fully distributed team, and you will primarily work in a virtual environment. You will occasionally work onsite at various client offices and event locations within the U.S. and beyond. You may be required to fly and/or drive for various team and client events. As such, a current passport and a valid driver’s license are required. TSA Pre/Global Entry status is a bonus; otherwise, we can help you obtain it.
You will need to dress professionally, ranging from business casual (nice blouse/top or collared shirt, jeans, nice shoes) to business formal (nice blouse/top/dress or button-down shirt, skirt or slacks, nice shoes) depending on the meeting type, event, or occasion.
